MAINTENANCE

WATER NEEDS:

For optimum quality water at first sign of stress or wilt, apply at least 1 inch of water.  To keep uniformly green all summer apply 1 inch per week unless there is adequate rainfall.  Water early in the morning.

MOWING & THATCHING:

Never cut more than 1/3 the height of the leaves at any single mowing.  Cutting more scalps the lawn and stresses the grass.  Thatch can accumulate over time. and may require removal.

SOIL & FERTILIZER NEEDS:

Soil test every 2 years to determine lime and fertilizer needs.  Maintain Ph between 6 and 6.5.  Generally Bermuda will require more fertilizer than other grasses.  Apply fertilizer only when the grass is dry.  Recommend 16-4-8 (with slow release nitrogen) at the rate of 6 lbs per 1,000 sq.ft. in March, May, June, July, and August.  To lessen mowing requirements apply same rate in April, June, and August.  In either case follow with 4 lbs. of 6-0-24 winterizer in September.

DISEASE, WEED, & INSECT CONTROL:

Dense growth prevents most weed problems.  Disease and insect problems can be controlled with insecticides and fungicides.

How to measure for our sod:

Length x width = square feet.

divide sq. ft. x by 9 to get square yards.

50 yards are on a pallet.

450 feet are on a pallet.
